one day she would be chosen from her class to perform
for a function”

Priyanka, a student of class VIII first heard of
Shikshaantra from her neighbour. She was pretty
surprised to see all her friends go so excitedly to this
new center for studying! She too wanted to be a part of
this and that is how she joined the Shikshaantra
family.

The teachers at Khushii have helped her realize that
her dreams are just not dreams but can be a reality
someday. She wants to study in Shikshaantra and
wants to give her tenth as well as twelfth class boards
with the help of the teachers at the center. She has
dreams of touching the clouds and soaring high in
the sky.  She plans to make the impossible possible
by becoming an airhostess.

Priyanka  feels it is not only about syllabus and
lessons but one learns so much more  that enriches
ones life and makes one a better person.
Such opportunities according to her have made her
more confident and sure of herself.

She cannot imagine her life without Khushii now.

“Initially reluctant and hesitant now one of
the most regular students”

Chandni, one of the quiet girls of class tenth, speaks
only when spoken too; had a lot to say when asked
about Shikshaantra. She has been part of the center
since its inception and has seen it grow. Her mother
had made her join the center.  In her words, “ghar par
padhai key alaawa sab kuch hota hai.” She helps her
mother in the daily chores and thus never got time to
concentrate on her studies completely. Since both her
parents are illiterate she could never take their help in
studies. But today after joining Shikshaantra, she has
three complete hours to revise what she has done in
school. All her doubts and queries are answered by
the concerned teachers. Being in a board class she
realizes the gravity of the situation and is quite
pleased with her preparation and the way she is
taught. The weekly tests help her realize what areas
she needs to concentrate and work on. She candidly
acknowledged the fact that her family would not have
been able to afford private tuitions and she was very
scared about how she would prepare for her board
examinations but the with the opening of the remedial
education center all her doubts and fears have been
put to rest.

She has a younger sister who is ten and a brother
who is two years old. She plans to bring her sister
next year and make sure that she too joins the center.
