India, though the seventh largest country in the world houses its second largest population. Though majority of these comprise women and children the family and community pay little attention towards their development.

Khushii has initiated empowerment by forming self-help groups (SHG’s) for the women of Neemrana. Currently there are 10 groups comprising 10-15 women each. These groups have been introduced to the concept of micro finance, which has enabled them to contribute towards an economically sound household.

Aparajita targets for February 2008…

  • Increase the number of SHG’s to 100.

  • Empower the women of the group through education and information on financial & legal literacy

  • Involve them in vocational trades and further get them placements through Drishti
