Kapil Dev brings
'Khushii' to Washington D.C. Metro Area
Friends of Khushii in the Washington metro area, together
with Kapil Dev, organized a fundraising dinner at the estate home
of Dipika and Puneet Ahluwalia, on June 4, 2005. The program began
with the traditional lighting of the ‘Candle of Hope’
ceremony.
The poignant moment, when Khushii’s Tarana evoked
emotions of all present, was followed by preliminary speeches by
the chief guest, Mr. Raminder Jasal, Deputy chief of Mission, Embassy
of India and the guest of honor Dr. Har Swarup Singh, former governor
of Kerala, presently, consultant to UNO.
The legendary cricketer and president of Khushii, Mr. Kapil Dev,
who has been actively involved in all projects to bring about a
holistic difference, urged guests to donate five percent of their
love, time, energy, and money to the underprivileged, especially,
children. He said, “If we all can put together as much
as we can to reach out to these little angels of God, this world
will be a better place.”
A power point presentation on Khushii was conducted by, Lavika Bhagat
Singh, founder member and US representative. The presentation highlighted
the concept, objective and projects undertaken by Khushii.
An auction of Kapil Dev’s signature items preceded dinner,
sponsored by In-Fusion. Among the guests were friends from Pakistan.
The other dignitaries gracing the occasion were the Chairman of
Springfield District, Mr. Mike Thompson and the Minister Counselor
of the Indian Embassy, Mr. Krishan Verma.
