Till the other day, you could not differentiate Ruchika, a young lady in her late twenties, from the rest of the crowd in her locality. Most of them were young ladies depending on the meagre earnings of their husbands or parents. They had nothing to look forward to in their lives since most of them had no formal education and no employment or property. All that their parents and brothers wanted was to get a suitable match for them and the responsibility would end there. Life had no rewards, no incentive and no challenge. If at all there was a challenge it was how to feed themselves.
But not so, Ruchika. She had been a single mother for sometime and had three children. Her life was tough. No exaggeration to say that she was living in extremely poor circumstances and had a hard time feeding three mouths along with her own. This story will warm your heart because it shows what determination and hardwork will yield if you are just given the right support, motivation and encouragement at the right time. It is that gentle push that most people need and KHUSHII rose to the occasion, in Ruchika’s case. Please read on to find out how.
They say necessity is the mother of invention and this is very true of Ruchika’s life. Left without anyone to support her and her three kids, she had to somehow find a way to sustain herself. Her life had reached a dead-end. Sangam Vihar resettlement area is not exactly the area where you find inspiration to do great things but this young lady made it possible and today she is able to lead a decent life earning her livelihood and looking after her three kids.
After learning about KHUSHII in her locality, she visited the people in KHUSHII office and met with the Beauty Culture faculty for vocational assistance. She showed her keen interest to join the course and her determination to become an independent woman.
After getting the right guidance and support from KHUSHII, she started the course in 2016. Her bold attitude and can-do spirit made all the difference. After joining KHUSHII, Ruchika’s personality got a real ‘makeover’. She became a different person altogether and her communication skills showed vast improvement. She learnt the art quite well and she learnt how to handle the customers. Today, Ruchika is a confident young lady looking forward to a bright future for herself and her three children whom she wants to get educated in good schools.
After successful completion of the course, she got a certificate from VLCC and joined R.K. Beauty Land, in Lajpat Nagar. She earns Rs 16,000 per month. Now she is a reputed beauty artist and recently tied up with Urban Clap. Way to go, Ruchika!
